Classy Sydney restaurant Tetsuya's, owned and operated by chef Tetsuya Wakuda, has again been selected in the annual UK publication "San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants", ranking ninth.
"It's a real honour," Wakuda said from London in April. "I will stay down to earth and continue the pursuit of even better menus."
Wakuda first came to Australia from Japan on a working holiday. He opened Tetsuya's in the Sydney suburb of Rozelle, later moving it to its current inner-city location. The restaurant is popular for its exquisite French courses that adopt the essence of Japanese cuisine, making Wakuda a celebrity chef who represents the Australian culinary scene on the world stage. The only other Australian restaurant to be included in the top 50 was high-class restaurant Rockpool, in Sydney's historic Rocks area.
