New independent Australian film Broken Sun looks at war from a different perspective. The film is set against the backdrop of the historic breakout of Japanese soldiers from a prisoner-of-war camp in Cowra, NSW, in 1944. However its central theme is the unlikely friendship between a Japanese POW and a troubled Australian World War I veteran living in Cowra. The メYamatoモ and メAussieモ spirits collide in a way that will capture the hearts of many viewers. Written and directed by Brad Haynes, Broken Sun was filmed in the directorユs hometown of Wagga Wagga and features period World War II scenery brought to life by director of photography Tony Jennings. Actors Jai Koutrae and Shingo Usami have leading roles while Kentaro Hara and Kuni Hashimoto also deliver moving performances.
