Japan Airlines will add the JAL Eco Jet to its fleet from June to symbolise the company's commitment to the global environment. The purpose of the aircraft's redecorated "eco-colour" tail is to support awareness of the importance of environmental issues. As well as implementing a variety of environmental initiatives, such as using its fleet of aircraft at altitudes of 10,000 metres above sea level to support climate investigation, the company is working towards a 20 per cent reduction of its 1990 carbon dioxide emission levels by 2010.
